When you’re in miserable in the throes of a bad breakup, it’s not unusual to want to make drastic changes to one’s appearance. These days it’s called a “Breakover,” and it usually involves the cutting or dying of one’s hair or the sudden refusal to wear pants.

It seems that actress and style star Kate Bosworth is working her way through a breakover this week. She recently split from her Straw Dogs co-star Alexander Skarsgard, and on Wednesday evening was photographed leaving a Los Angeles Coldplay concert with the ends of her hair dyed a saccharine sherbet blue.

The rest of Bosworth’s outfit was equally jarring: Very cute nude kitten heels paired with straight-leg white jeans and a filmy blouse buttoned up to the collar. The ’90s are indeed back, but it’s still strange seeing prints that look better suited to hospital curtains worn for nights out on the town.

Kate’s a very pretty girl who, for the most part, manages to rock trends before they happen. Could this Smurf-inspired dye job be just what she needs right now, or should she reconsider that Manic Panic?
